The following areas of Kalexchelan are full of danger and destruction. Whether it is a large firey pit, or a forest with snakes and monsters, or simply the remains of an old volcano, you should stay away. Far away, or else....
The Lake of Fire
The Lake of Fire is a burning hot lake made up of molten lava. The fireballs that fill the Lake hurl themselves across the surface, burning anything that may be in their path. Morphs live in the lake, immune to the extreme heat. One Morph has large dragon wings used to deflect fireballs. Located in southwestern Kalexchelan, the lake is 750 feet wide and over 230 feet deep.
The Remains of Mt. Levelad
Mt. Levelad is a massive volcano northeast of the Lake of Fire, towards the central section of the island of Kalexchelan. At the base of the volcano is the entrance to the Lava Labyrinth, a large maze discovered under the mountain. Giants and Eaters have large nesting grounds at the bottom of the volcano. The presence of large groups of ravenous monsters has led to numerous clashes. Both Giants and Eaters will kill for many reasons, from hunger to self-defense. The base of the volcano used to be a large breeding ground for Girelants. However, when Giants and Eaters settled onto the land, Girelants were a primary food source. The surviving Girelants retreated to the Lava Labyrinth to hide from their predators.
The Lava Labyrinth
The Lava Labyrinth is located underneath the remains of Mt. Levelad. At the base of the mountain, large rocks cover the entrance to the gigantic maze. A vast earthen staircase descends to the maze. The Labyrinth was discovered soon after the eruption. It has since been explored and declared near impossible to get through. The Labyrinth is filled with rocks and magma from Mt. Levelad. Thick smoke fills the air. It is also a huge nesting ground for Girelants, who hide there to escape from their natural enemies, Giants and Eaters.
The Ice Mountains
The Ice Mountains are frigidly cold mountains of ice in the center of Kalexchelan, northeast of Mt. Levelad and the Lava Labyrinth. There is a total of 150 mountains, the tallest of which reaches 17,000 feet tall. The Ice Mountains are home to the ancient Helphian, a horrible and deadly creature. There is a legend: In the old days, the Helphian roamed free, terrorizing Kalexchelan. 5 men were sacrificed every 9 months to keep it at bay. It was banished to the Ice Mountains to protect the surviving people. The Ice Mountains are also home to Morphs, who are immune to the freezing temperatures. Most of these Morphs are big and bulky, and are covered with thick fur.
The Forbidden Forest
The Forbidden Forest is a large forest in the northeastern region of Kalexchelan. The only major region that is farther northeast on the island is the grounds of the Castle of Kalexchelan. The Forbidden Forest is often considered the last line of defense for the Castle's evil inhabitants, the Rulers of the Light. The Forest has almost 200,000 trees and is home to most dangerous creatures on the island.
